With blind bidding against a salary cap, how are salaries handled when players are released?

If a league is using the Blind Bidding against Team's Salary Cap option to award players, the Commissioner can choose from 3 options to handle player salaries when a player is released and becomes a free agent:

  1. Retain Bid Amount - The new bid salary will become the new free agent salary.
  2. Revert To Specific Player Value - If there is a specific player salary value assigned it will revert to that value, otherwise it will revert to the default salary for the players' position.
  3. Revert To Position Default Value - The default salary for the players' position will always become the new free agent salary.

More specifically, this selection will affect the Commissioner → Manage League → Player Salary Cap Values in different ways. It is easier to think of that page as the storage area for future salaries of players that get picked up via open Free Agency, it doesn't necessarily reflect the current salary of the player on a roster. If option #1 is selected the specific player value will be updated with the bid amount. If option #2 is selected, any specific value that is already set for that player will not be modified. If option #3 is selected, any specific value set for that player will be cleared.
