League commissioners can set up their league to have a Live Draft via the Parameters→General Organization page of the Commissioner → Manage League section.

Live Draft Setup

The live draft setup is accomplished using the Commissioner → Manage League → Live Draft → Setup page.

Set the date and time for the draft, note that times listed are Eastern. The commissioner must choose to have the draft start automatically at the time designated or the commissioner will need to manually start the draft sometime after the designated start time. If you answer “Yes” that the draft is to start automatically, be sure you have the correct time (remember that all times are Eastern!). If you or the owners enter the draft late and the system has started the draft, your picks may be skipped.

Set the time limit. The commissioner has to decide if there will be a time limit on teams making a draft pick. If there is no time limit selected then the team owner may take as long as he wants to make the selection. However, if the commissioner wants a time limit between picks we recommend no less 90 seconds between picks as this allows time for individual computer screens to refresh.

If an owner has elected to use the auto-pick feature then the time limit will not come into play for him unless the system cannot select a player for whatever reason from his autodraft queue list. Refer to the following FAQ for more information on the auto-pick feature: How does auto draft work ?

Number of rounds and draft style selection. After selecting how many rounds the draft will be, the commissioner will also need to select what style of draft will be used. The commissioner then sets up the draft order, either randomly or using a specific order.

After completing these questions, press the Submit Rules button.

Notes
  1. Selecting the Commissioner → Manage League → Draft → Delete link will completely erase your draft information as if it was never entered in the first place. If you have already completed your draft it will erase the final Draft Tracker results that show which players were drafted by each team. However, your rosters will stay intact.
  2. If you use our Platinum service and have the option to have “The same NFL player be on multiple Fantasy Football League rosters only if they are in different conferences”, then you will be able to setup separate drafts for each of your conferences. At the bottom of the draft board in the Options module you will be able to select the conference.
  3. If you use our Platinum service and have setup separate drafts for your conferences, you will need to setup separate draft orders for each of them. At the bottom of the draft board in the Options module you will be able to select the conference.
  4. The draft order can always be changed on the draft board by clicking on the Modify button within the Options module of the draft board, then selecting the appropriate round(s) and making any changes in the order you wish. Then click update again. If the draft is already running and you wish to change the draft order, pause the draft, go to the Modify page, select the round(s), make the order change then click on update. The commissioner may elect to have more rounds than the number of roster slots allotted. However the system will not assign teams to those rounds. You must go to the draft board's Modify page, select the rounds and fill in the order manually.
  5. Go to the League → Draft page. At the top of the page you will see a countdown timer showing the time remaining until your draft starts as well as the team first up once your draft begins. If you need to modify the draft order for any of the rounds, use the Modify button within the Options module of the draft board. A separate window will appear with controls allowing you to modify the draft order for any of the rounds. Clicking the Board PDF button will display a PDF file with the draft order for each round.
  6. Once your draft begins, the red status indicator at the top left of the page will become an active control allowing you to Pause and Resume your draft at will. It will have control buttons similar to Start/Pause/Stop found on YouTube videos. In addition, the countdown timer now reflects the amount of time left for the team on the clock to make their pick. To make a pick for a particular owner you can use the blue + Icon to move a player to the pre-selection area and the Draft button will be enabled for submitting the player. After clicking on the Draft button, the selection is completed and the next team goes on the clock.
  7. Prior to the draft begin time, each of the team owners participating in the live draft will need to login to the web site and access the League → Draft page. When it is their turn to be on the clock, they will get access to the Draft button and will be able to add a player to their roster. If any of your owners are using the Auto-Picker mode, their picks will be made automatically based on their Draft Autopick list.
  8. Once your draft is finished the red status indicator at the top left of the page will indicate the draft is completed. Within the Options module (lower left), clicking the Board PDF link will display a PDF file with the final draft results.
  9. If you use our Platinum service and have setup separate drafts for your conferences, then you will be able to switch between them using the conference selector at the botton of the page in the Options module.
